Green juice is a great way to start your day. Actually green juice is great anytime of day. This colorful juice can be made with all types of greens and fruits. Some of my favorite greens are spinach, kale, chard, mustards, and collards. Greens of different origin will change the overall flavor of the juice making it spicy or smooth. Use whatever you have in your fridge. A bit of fresh ginger and turmeric can give the juice an earthy flavor, plus ginger is great for an immune boost.
Carrots are a great way to add some sweet and tang. The more fruit you add the sweeter the juice will be and that may not be for everyone. Sometimes the sweeter the green juice the more palatable for kids or newbies to the idea of drinking your “greens.” Juicing can be a little scary to try, but once you’re experienced the benefits of juicing you’ll be hooked.
Juice today and enjoy cleaning out the refrigerator of fruits and vegetables you didn’t know what to do with.
- 2 cucumbers
- 3 apples , cored
- 4 small oranges , peeled
- 1 pear , cored
- 1 lemon , peeled
- 10 small carrots or 2 large , cleaned
- 4 cups fresh baby spinach
- 1 inch fresh ginger , peeled
- 1 inch fresh turmeric , peeled
- Using a juicer, add all ingredients.
- Pour over ice and enjoy.
My girls like their green juice sweeter, so I add more fruit.
