My journey and inception to Vegan Gluten Free Life have been surprising, eye-opening, scary, educational, challenging and wicked fun! Being in my amazing fifties blessed with three incredible daughters a super supportive husband and my four legged furry babies, it was time for ME! A passion for cooking, fresh food, and now some time to myself, it began.
A few years ago I discovered my sensitivity to gluten and my eldest daughters allergies to corn and soy. I came to the realization that our food choices were making us sick. The quote “you are what you eat” hit home for all of us. As you can imagine cooking in my house can be a challenge. Good healthy choices for myself and my family became a priority, no matter how difficult. Change is worth the effort.
My family is close to 100% vegan but sometimes we slip up, that’s okay, that must mean we are human. We did not make this food lifestyle change over night, it started years ago. Don’t let the “V” (vegan) word to freak you out. I will not assault you with an asparagus or push my food lifestyle on you. This is my platform so I can share recipes that give you the tools to make the traditional dishes you love with a vegan twist.
My strength is not in the written word but in the physical act of creating recipes. Sharing recipe videos and techniques is natural for me. My daughter Clare, who makes incredible makeup videos, check her out her youtube channel, clarelilly, she has been my tutor through the videoing and editing learning curve. Filming and editing are crazy time consuming but hugely rewarding. My hope is that by watching me create plant-based video recipes you will become inspired to give them a try.
My blog is meant to be friendly, lighthearted, fun, and non-judgmental. This is not an “all or nothing” approach to food options. For this lifestyle choice to be successful it must be on your terms. Alter my recipes to fit your palette. As I always say; have fun in the kitchen and make it your own!
Here are a few quotes I wanted to share with you. I hope they give you pause and brighten your day.
